What To Look For In A Bar Stool

Bar stools are becoming more and more popular both for home and commercial use. Whether you are choosing stools for your home or for that little bistro or bar there are some things you consider when purchasing a bar stool. Here are a couple of things you should consider when shopping for the perfect stool for your home or business.

Where you plan on using it

One consideration when choosing a bar stool is where you plan on using it. For example a bar stool you intend to use in your family room may be quite different than what you would choose for your patio or even your kitchen. Likewise a stool that is going to be used for commercial use will need to be more durable than one used for the private use of a family of two. Where and how your stool will be used will make a large difference in the material your stool is made of and the style of stool you choose.

Style

The style of your bar stool will be dictated in large part by the personal taste and the décor of the room in which the stool will be used. For example, a plastic stool will look terribly out of place when placed next to a beautiful cherry bar. Likewise, an ultra modern stool would look out of place in an Old English style pub. You want your stool to match and blend in or accent the rest of your room's décor.

Height

Height is another thing to consider when choosing a bar stool. Stools come in various heights and oftentimes people purchase a stool or even a large number of stools only to realize that the stools are either too tall or too short for the bar or bar table for which they are intended. Unless you are planning on purchasing an adjustable stool, you should measure the height of your bar or bar table. Your stool should sit under it leaving 10 to 13 inches for leg room and easy movement.

Material

Your choice of material will also be important when choosing your bar stool. While stools for commercial use work best when made of metal or wood with padded seats, plastic stools just may be ideal for that poolside bar or your patio. While people with families may opt for an easy to clean material, retired individuals or childless couples may prefer something that is a tad bit more elegant and chic looking.

Quality

Whatever the style or material used to make up your bar stool, you are likely to want the best quality stool you can find. Look for both quality of material and workmanship. The higher the grade of the product the longer it will last and the more useful it will prove to be. Each type of material whether it's plastic, wood or metal comes in various qualities of the material. While cheaper stools may seem like a good deal, if they lack the quality to last they will soon result in the scrap pile and you can become paying more to replace them than you will spend purchasing a higher quality material in the first place.

Price

Price is always a consideration when purchasing anything and buying a bar stool is no different. While you intend to buy the highest quality stool you can afford you don't want to over spend and regret your purchase later on. Set a budget that you can afford and then only look for stools within your price range. That way you may get what you need without going broke in the bargain.

Bar stools come in a variety of styles and materials and carry many different price tags, knowing what to consider when choosing a bar stool for your home or commercial business will make shopping for this product much simpler and easier. By taking your time comparison shopping and looking for sales and special offers you can usually get what you need at a price you can afford. It's simply a matter of knowing what you need and having the patience to find the best deal possible.
